The Key West Conch Ride 2018

The great part about a ride like this is that we all get to stay together. Luckily the people over at Looe Key Reef Resort & dive center were nice enough to let us do our thing and park our bikes within the walkways to keep them secure overnight. This pic is from Saturday morning when we pushed the bikes out for the ride.

Gasing up & Getting Ready to Ride

The Key West Conch Ride 2018

Make sure to set your alarm earlier since it might be hard waking up on time. Especially if you need to get gas before the ride.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018Note: make sure you follow the rest of the riders so you don’t end up getting lost( you might want to turn around bud)

The Key West Conch Ride 2018The morning clouds didn’t seem to be in our favor but riders ride rain or shine. As most of us know, Florida weather can be unpredictable. It rains here and there ranging from light showers to heavy downpours. Sometimes these last for about 30 seconds or 30 minutes. Being from Southern California doesn’t help since we don’t see much rain here.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Riding across the bridges to go from island to island was amazing, it was hard to take pics of the
bikes in front while staring into the ocean views. (Picture of Dorby photographing another rider)

The Ride Close Up

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Bridges, bridges and then some more bridges. Thought it would get old quick but the scenery did not disappoint.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Finally hit the next island got a shot of this ruck zooming at a whopping 45 MPH since local police are very strict with speed limits in the keys

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Not even halfway there and already stretching out his legs (or maybe he was just trying to catch a good airflow…)

_DSC0622After hanging out in the back of the ride, I managed my way up to the front. I realized I had dropped my polarizer filter earlier. The rider in the right saw the filter fly off the camera and was able to retrieve it. You might be able to see it in his hand. I got lucky that it didn’t break this time. Sadly this wasn’t the first one to fall off. So I slapped it back on and kept going. Thanks!

_DSC0631 (Joshua to the left) checking his top speed( lowkey head him say damn thats it!) maybe thats why he was squinting so hard.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Back on the road…

The Key West Conch Ride 2018and a quick stop.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018and of course, can’t forget a quick group picture.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 we had finally made it to our destination (a brewery) but noticed that parking was an issue so we weren’t able to park the bikes all together. No biggie.

We made it!

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Once we were done eating, some of us walked around trying out all the different kinds of key lime pie in the area (which I had never heard of but its a must if you are ever down there) and the rest of us lined up our bikes for a pic.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 We weren’t even done lining up the bikes when a group of girls appeared from the wild, a pic was a must

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Off we go exploring the island

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 shortly after regathering with the rest of the group to continue the ride

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 Even after being in Florida for a couple of days, the no helmet law always tripped me up since we aren’t used to seeing people ride without helmets.

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 One final gas stop to head back to the resort (with the CBR crew from Boston)

The Key West Conch Ride 2018mm I don’t know exactly what was going on here, everyone looks so lost

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 caught Luther riding his super mint NSR 50 2T (street legal)

The Key West Conch Ride 2018A quick shot before sunset

The Key West Conch Ride 2018While riding back to the resort we noticed dark clouds up ahead

The Key West Conch Ride 2018 some of the guys had said it was a pretty bad storm up ahead so decided to wait it out a bit, but that didn’t last long.. Unfortunately it started pouring right after this pic and decided to put my camera away. The group ended up catching a good amount of the storm on the way back. It was definitely rough riding through the storm. Several bikes began struggling due to the rain and some even completely shut off. In the end, everyone made it back to the resort. Definitely looking forward to next years event as it will only get bigger and better. Here are a couple more pictures from the ride below.

shout out to Joshua Odem from Extreme Powder Coaters, for contacting us to sponsor the ride at the beginning of the year and Ying (Dorbyworks) for the hospitality in Florida.
