Part 4 – Suspension is Key
It’s been a while since I updated my build. Here is a quick list of parts I installed.
- Over Racing Top Steering Mount
- K-Tech Front Adjustable Fork Kit
- Honda Grom K-Tech Rear Shocks
- Honda Grom Sato Racing Rearset
After tracking the Race Tech Fork Kit and Ohlins Rear I wanted to try out something new. K-Tech was one of the Grom only kits at the time that allows front fork damping adjustment so I had to try it out.
Front Suspension – K-Tech Grom Fork Kit and Rear Shock
K-Tech Rear Shock had a rebound and compression adjustment next to my old which was only Ohlins Single-Adjustable.
New Sato Racing Grom Rearsets next to my old Driven Racing Rear Set.
I decided to swap back to my stock swing arm until I get my new stock length Over Racing Swing Arm.
Newly installed Sato Rearsets and K-Tech Rear Shock.

The K-Tech Adjustable front fork kit looks pretty good with my new Over Racing Steering Triple Tree Top Mount
Testing out the new setup at Grange Kart Track.
Testing didn’t go as planned. Unlike the RaceTech or Ohlins, K-Tech was pretty much unrideable on track out of the boxes. The bike took 3 crashes lucky there wasn’t any more damage.
I haven’t given up, I’m going to give K-Tech a call and have them try to help sort out this setup. This is not always the case. Each rider is different and has different preferences.
Remember suspension is key when racing! This can help increase how comfortable you are when riding. Possibly giving you much better lean angles and a more confident feel at the track.
