One of the first cosmetic modifications made to the Honda Ruckus is the removal of the OEM floor board. However, once removed not only is the bare frame now visible, but also the stamped steel gas tank. This can not only lead to a very ugly bike, but can also put the gas tank at risk for environmental and physical damage. There is a solution for that problem with the DROWSports Carbon Ruckus Gas Tank Cover.
As you can see, this is not only a stylish performance part, but also a very effective one. It provides protection from the environment, water, and can even protect from some impacts. Of course if you slam a hammer into it, you’d probably still do some damage to both the cover and the gas tank. What is also nice is how it cleans up the gas tank area.
As you can see in these two pictures, many fiberglass offerings put bumps to go around the gas tank mounting tabs. In the second picture, you can even see one of the disadvantages of going with fiberglass. With the heat from the sun, the fiberglass will eventually begin to warp.
Here is the other solution, these two manufacturers mold holes in for the tabs instead of molding the bumps to get around the tabs. These aren’t bad solutions, except they can be unattractive when compared to our Carbon Fiber Gas Tank Cover.
This shows how we made the tank cover smooth and flat. To make this work, you must grind off the tabs from the frame. This does not hinder mounting the gas tank at all, as this was Honda’s solution for installation in a factory environment. That way, all tanks will mount the same from Ruckus to Ruckus or Metropolitan to Metropolitan. While I do mention the “Metro” and the front frames are the same between it and the Ruckus, our Carbon Gas Tank Cover is designed with the Ruckus in mind. So, we don’t know if this will fit the “Metro” or not, but will side with caution and say that it won’t. If you want to try, it’s on you.
