Super Sunday: The Aftermath!

Super Sunday was a huge success this year! With over 200 scooters and 161.5 of them being Ruckus of some build, it was the largest turnout yet. This year started, as always, at The Hat, a well-known restaurant in Temple City, California. While we followed the group to the destination, we decided to take a different route back home. Did we all make it?

The DROWSports and a small portion of Long Beach riders began their Super Sunday at the DROWSports Signal Hill store. We had two brand new GY6 swapped Ruckus to get their debut cruises that day. Jay and Justin’s new bikes were tuned just the night before and were running beautifully. With Ricky Bobby and me in the DROWSports Chase Truck, we went off at 7am to meet up with the rest of the Long Beach riders at a Starbucks off of Lakewood Avenue. After getting everyone ready, we made tracks for the starting point of Super Sunday, The Hat.

There were many riders that showed their support from DROWSports, and many bikes had our license plate frames. Quite a few bikes had our foot pegs, carbon parts, and other Ruckus and Zuma parts. After drooling over the many good-looking custom bikes, the riders meeting took place over at the Killer Scooter Support Truck. There, words of caution and safety were preached, and hints about the ride were given, but never full details on where we would be going. This is what makes Super Sundays so interesting, the adventure that is the ride!

We made fuel stops in Sun Valley and Woodland Hills, then made haste to the final Super Sunday destination for us, The Rock Store! What a ride, and it was a wonderful sight. We hung out with bikers, road racers, and just plain motorcycle enthusiasts. What made it more special was the fact that this was the Super Sunday after the passing of the Rock Store's founder, Ed Savko, who passed away in April. He and his wife, Vern, helped make the Rock Store what it is since 1961, and I have to say it had to be worth every penny!

From there, we broke off and went down through Malibu to make our way to our fun spot, the freeway by LAX! There, we continued on and had more fun until we got back to the store at 9 pm! If you can make it to the next So-Cal Super Sunday in 2013, you need to do yourself a favor: tune your bike for speed and be sure to make it! Super Sundays are like nothing you’ve ridden in before!
