If you've ever tried to get the starter clutch nut off a GY6 with a hammer and punch, you already know why this tool exists. The starter clutch nut (aka castle nut) on GY6 engines is a 4-notch, reverse-threaded nut — turn it clockwise to loosen — and it does NOT come off nicely without a proper spanner socket. Chewed-up notches, rounded edges, busted knuckles... skip all that.
This spanner nut tool engages all four notches on the nut for a solid, even bite, so you can remove and reinstall the starter clutch without damaging anything. Whether you're doing a big bore build, replacing a worn starter clutch, or just cracking the case open for the first time, this is one of those cheap tools that saves you from an expensive mistake.
Applications:
- GY6 125cc
- GY6 150cc
Heads up: the GY6 starter clutch nut is reverse threaded. Turn clockwise to remove, counter-clockwise to tighten. Don't learn that one the hard way.
